Safety Netting Systems

Tasman Rope Access can supply, fit and install varying types of netting systems as a solution for dropped tooling and working at height hazards.

Tension Netting

Work Platform Nets (Tension Netting Systems) are an alternative form of ensuring minimal risk to work crews from dropped tooling and falls from heights. The netting is compliant to EN.1263.1 and is made from ultra-violet treated knotless polypropylene mesh, made to dimensions of either a 45mm x 45mm x 5mm or a 35mm x 35mm x 5mm.

In addition, the nets have a border rope that passes through the exterior meshes to provide further protection and increase the overall strength rating,

The nets are a new approach to working hazards and can be installed in difficult work locations with restrictive access, such as:

  • Oil and Gas Rigs,
  • Roofing structures,
  • Under Wharfs,
  • Around large tank structures,
  • Surge Bins
  • Under and between walkways
  • Under and around bridge

The nets are available in both standard and customised sizes. The nets are accompanied with perimeter cords and intermediate reinforcement ropes. Furthermore, industrial safety nets may be used either vertically (for edge protection) or horizontally (for fall arrest).

For larger surfaces, nets are laced together with 8mm rope with a minimum break load of 7.5kN. The nets can also be laid over each other or laced together; ensuring all surfaces and objects receive coverage from the nets.

Safety Netting

The netting is installed to protect personnel and assets from falling debris during construction and shut down works. The netting installation is a quick, safe and effective way of separating work groups from the hazards of falling objects, projectiles and human behaviours. The netting can either be a temporary or a permanent fixture and custom-made to fit any area or direction.

The netting:

  • Meets Australian, New Zealand and European Standards;
  • Is rated to hold two-tonne;
  • Is installed by highly-experienced and specialised rope access technicians;
  • Can be installed in any direction and space required (e.g. horizontal, vertical and diagonal);
  • Can be installed as a temporary or permanent fixture in a variety of different ways, dependent on client requirements;
  • Can be custom-made to fit areas;
  • Allows multiple workgroups to work closely within restrictive spaces and environments;
  • Comes with Installation Certificates for client compliance requirements;
  • 100% recyclable, inert (does not produce bacteria) and non-allergenic;
  • Not digestible by any insect (e.g. moths, ants);
  • Does not accumulate static electricity;
  • Has a high resistance to abrasion and against ultra-violet rays;
  • Maintains high tenacity in acid or alkaline environment;
  • Is easily mounted;
  • Tested annually to ensure structural integrity; and
  • Very resistant to dirt, as it is a non-absorbent fibre.

The benefits include:

  • Acts as a barrier for falling debris, tooling and personnel;
  • Can be temporary or permanent;
  • Allows multiple workgroups to safer work in restrictive spaces;
  • Is rated to hold two-tonne;
  • Can be tensioned for use as a work platform; and
  • Can be positioned for edge protection.
